I think it is a beautiful piece of work, with a lovely garden behind it, with the back wall made to look like a trench side topped with sandbags.

Lostock Hall Memorial
I noticed a new WWI War Memorial, at Lostock Hall, near Preston.
I think it is a beautiful piece of work, with a lovely garden behind it, with the back wall made to look like a trench side topped with sandbags.

Lancashire Hawks and Owls
It was great to see this organisation displaying at a recent event. I always enjoy the opportunity to see our native owls at such close quarters.
This Little Owl and chicks were very popular. I've been lucky enough to see quite a few of these in the wild.
These Tawny Owls were just stunning. I've only ever caught fleeting glimpses of these in the wild, so it was great to see them so closely. They truly are beautifully marked.

Tatton Park
We recently visited Tatton Park in Cheshire to see the deer rutt. What a fantastic day it turn out to be. We've been to the rutt before, but usually towards the end of October, so we decided to visit earlier in the month. There was a lot more activity.
We watched this stag jump over a fence and chase three hinds back into his harem. One of the younger hinds wasn't sure about jumping the fence, but he harried her for five minutes until she did! He kept stopping and looking directly at me, even though I was a distance away. Elaine decided we were too close and disappeared up the field and climbed over a fence.
This other stag had been chased away from the herd, and was looking for any stray hinds to start his own herd.
Tatton Park also has a large herd of Fallow deer. One of the great things about the park is the freedom to wander all over the area, encountering deer in many places.
There were several Red Deer stags around the park, but never too far from the others. Their bellowing could be heard all over the park.
On our way out of the park we saw a dozen Mute Swans on the main lake. I've never seen them surface feeding like this.

We came across this stag resting, slightly away from the main herd.

Best of a Foggy Day
I went out with my camera yesterday. When I left home it was beautifully sunny, but within a few miles, the fog started rolling in.
Driving up into the West Pennine Moors I was greeted by more fog coming from the other side.
As I drove back into town, the fog was just reaching the centre. There is a memorial to a WW1 regiment called The Chorley Pals. The statue looked so dramatic as I drove past that I had to turn around to capture it.

Usually, if it's foggy on one side, it's clear on the other, but not this day!
Coming back towards Chorley, the view was incredible, with the fog blocking out everything through to the coast,
